No one really can ever explain the answer to the ‘why’ questions
on this side of heaven.
Throughout the Bible, we see God’s righteous judgments, His
Holiness and His compassion. We see His
compassion to David in the Psalms, and we see His absolute love for us in the
suffering, death and resurrection of Jesus.
We see hardship throughout as well, yet, if we pay attention, we
see one thing which is present in most of those hardships. Faith.
Faith and dependence on God.
For myself, I have been in places especially since being born
again in Christ where I have had to trust and depend solely on the Lord,
because there were things that no human had the power to change. At some times, when I have been at the end of
my rope, at the end of myself, God has been the only One who has delivered me.
Like so many in the Bible, I have seen the works of God, yet when
things get better for a little while, I tend, like so many, to slip back into
the comfort zone of just doing my own thing, which always seems to end in a
mess.
For me, as it is with all believers, it is through adversity and
the darkest times when we come closer to the Lord. It is through the trials in
our lives where our Father is telling us to “Be still and know that I AM
God.” It is through our heart aches and
breaks that He uses them to develop our faith and trust in Him.
We are not just fighting a physical earthly battle for good, we
are meant to fight in the spiritual battle that has gone on unseen around us
since the day man fell into sin.
Christians in the west for the most part have never had to deal with or
suffer real persecution that our brothers and sisters in other parts of the
world have suffered. We need to be able
to cope with adversity, especially in spiritual battles. Things are happening in our country and
around the world right now that show us the spiritual battle is ramping up, and
the Lord is calling us to man the battle stations.
He doesn’t need unseasoned warriors.
Some people I love dearly are facing incredibly hard things in
their lives right now. Some seem to be
given more than most people to deal with.
Some are what I can only compare by saying they are modern day Job, in
having more and more heartache, hardest circumstances and dark valleys.
I don’t have the answers for all the ‘whys’, especially for my
friends, no matter how much I wish I did.
But God does. Even if He seems
silent throughout, which many times He has been with me as well, it is because
He is working on us. Conditioning and strengthening us.
Many times I have been on my knees, crying out to Him, either for
me or for someone I love, and while hoping for an immediate answer that will
make all things right, things don’t happen that way. The thing is though, that He plants the truth
in my spirit, “My grace is sufficient for
thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I
rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me” 2
Corinthians 12:9
It is when I am weak and can’t hang on, that His strength is
revealed, and that faith and trust is also being strengthened. No matter how hard and painful things may be,
or become, trust that God is working.
When the battles seem to be never ending, that is when God is
working. Hold tight and allow your faith
to be strengthened.
God loves those who trust in Him. He will never leave nor forsake
those who are His own. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor
life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor
things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to
separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans
8:38,39
