Hope

The other day I heard a Republican strategist say the GOP needs to find a way to bring a positive message to the American people, a message of hope. Isn’t this what Ronald Reagan did; lifted people up, gave the country a vision and instilled hope in the American psyche? Yes, and for all of us who remember him hope was Reagan’s legacy to us and our children, but it has since been lost, mowed under and trampled upon by those whose vision is one of bondage instead of freedom and servitude to government rather than government serving the people. For the last five years we have heard a president who had promised hope only try to steal whatever hope we had to where now some are hopeless and are unable to see the light of the shining city on a hill because of the darkness which has pervaded our society.

Yet, we are a people of hope who serve the God of hope and whose hope is ours for the taking. We will never find hope in the world because a system invented by man and controlled by the forces of darkness can never bring hope. Hope is a gift of God and from God to His people and there is none other than God to bestow it. Ronald Reagan knew this because he knew the Lord and knew where our hope originates; not in the government but in God who is love. Those who do not know God will never have hope and will never know the grace by which we receive it. However we, like the Great Communicator, can use what the Spirit of Grace has provided us to help others see our vision for a nation returned to righteousness and a land of liberty where all will be free to pursue their own vision of the American dream.

We have the message to bring but we must also have the hope the Lord will, by His grace, send it forth so that all might see and know what we do.

“Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the Lord.”
Psalm 31:24

It is going to take courage and lots of it because the fight is going to require battling those who, in the world’s eyes, are far superior to us. Yet, if God is for us who can be against us and win? Last night and this morning as I listened to and watched the video of Amy Grant singing “El Shaddai” I saw just WHO we serve; the God of Glory and Might and it is only with, in and through Him we can and will do this. May we humbly accept His call and may His will be done. Amen.

  1. The message of freedom that we bring to the world indeed begins with our salvation which was purchased with the precious blood of Jesus. Great post. Keep up the good work.
